Tarja Turunen is zeker geen onbekende naam. De zangeres verworf bekendheid als zangeres bij het Finse Nightwish, waar zij vanaf het prille begin tot en met 2005 de vocalen voor haar rekening nam. Ondanks deze drukke periode wist Tarja tijd vrij te maken voor diverse solo projecten en studies. Zo heeft ze in 1999 zelfs meegewerkt aan een moderne balletproductie van de Finse Nationale Opera.
Vijf jaar geleden stopt haar carriere bij Nightwish en kondigt Tarja in een uitgebreide persconferentie aan dat ze zich zal richten op een solo-carrière. Het eerste wapenfeit is de single "You Would Have Loved This" die binnen 4 weken in thuisland Finland de platina status bereikte. In 2007 begint het pas echt goed te lopen met Tarja en brengt ze het album "My Winter Storm" uit wat zeer goed ontvangen wordt met singles als "I Walk Alone" en "Die Alive".
In September 2010 zal het langverwachte nieuwe album genaamd "What Lies Beneath" uitkomen gevolgd door een uitgebreide tour in oktober, wat haar op 11 oktober naar 013 brengt.
Oftewel het ziet ernaar uit dat onze Finse zangeres op 11 oktober naar Nederland komt en gaat optreden in de 013 in Tilburg.
Tevens hadden ze ook het leuke nieuws dat er met overleg van Tarja's management dat er van 2 nummers apetizers vrijgegeven mogen worden. Dit zullen video's zijn van de rehearsels van het koor en orkest. 1 lied zullen we allemaal kennen (Sing for Me) en het andere is een wereldpremiere. Dit lied is afmkomstig van haar nieuwe album What Lies Beneath.

On the last day of my visit to London, I had a very nice photo session with Paul Harries. I have been lucky to find him, because he really always makes me look ”pretty”.
We are making progress every day. Now all the orchestral songs are mixed. We worked again with Slamm Andrews, at Remote Control Studios. Slamm mixed my last record and it was a pleasure this time to see my ”movie” songs come alive with his guidance!
Jim Dooley came to say hi and to listen to the final touches for the song “If You Believe” that he produced with me.
It feels just unbelievable that after being in the process so long, almost 2 years, the album is getting ready. I have truly won my fears, lack of confidence and belief that I was not going to make it alone. Is great to have succeeded in what I wanted. It feels good I can tell.
At this moment I am working with Tim Palmer in Austin, Texas.
First time I am in Texas! It’s lovely here though, the city of Austin is full of live music everywhere and it’s warm, as I like it.
Tim is great, a very nice man to work with and having the understanding of the artistic needs that I have. He has an extended musical career and has forged tons of hits and great music.
We already mixed three songs including a guest solo from the guitar player of an amazing heavy metal band from Los Angeles. Today we are working on another song with an outstanding vocal group from Europe.
The last mixes will take place during this week and next time I’ll write to you is when I’ll have the complete album finished!!!!!!

The time has come to announce the winners of our Tarja video contest which has proved to be a huge success: we have received 105 videos from 25 countries. As promised, the winners were selected by Tarja herself personally, who had watched all the 105 videos. Of course it took some time, thats why we had to wait a bit for the final result.
